The writer who is known as Elif Batuman, was born in 1977. She works as an American author, academic and journalist. She graduated from Harvard College. She hold a doctoral degree in comparative literature from Standford University. Her first book title is, “The Possesed: Adventure with Russian Books and the People who read them,”. She interviewed the Taylan brothers that directed the most popular TV series in Turkish history back in August at their Istanbul studio. The article is about the Ottoman history and the adaption of tv series about Turkey’s past empire.

The writer’s purpose is to related the famous tv series with the history Ottoman Empire in Turkey. Magnificent Century is the most popular TV series in Turkish history. The show hits millions view. The tv series reinterpret Turkey’s past empire. These results are consistent with the aims of the research about the Ottomania, which is part of Turkish trend. Directed by Turkish Coen brothers, Yagmur and Durul Taylan. Durul is the younger brother, who first broadcast film criticism in 1991, after he graduated from university with a degree in industrial engineering. The Taylan brothers grew up in a secular, middle-class family. They dreamed to direct a film someday. The tv series is huge success but there’s still a critic named Erdogan. He criticize the show’s potrayal of Suleyman.

The writer wants to explain the purpose of the article is about how the Ottoman Empire established and the culture of Turkey. Ottoman Empire was founded in 1290, by a Turkoman Tribal leader called Osman. Turkish derived from latin Turchia. The economy mainly focused based on agriculture. Despite, Ottomans majority are Muslim, they give freedom to the people who live in there to choose what religion they want to profess. Meantime, there was no official language.

There’s still weakness in her article which is, she didn’t organize her text properly and accordingly. She mixed the tv series, the stories of Suleyman, Roxelana, Ibrahim, Erdogan, the actor and the actress that played the tv series and also about the Taylan brothers. She should organize her text according to which more important first and then she can mention about her interviewing the Taylan brothers after she elaborate the tv series because the Taylan brothers is the director of the tv series, she can relate to them after she’s done with explaining about the tv series.

The writer also wants to include the culture of Islam by mentioning the words ‘harem’, holy cities of Mecca and Medina and The Temple Mount, in Jerusalem which play important part in Muslim beliefs and culture. She should mention this after she stated that Ottoman majorities are Muslim so that the readers can understand and learn more about the Muslim. At the end of the text, the writer should not supposed to make the readers wonder with her question about would she have gone back, if she could have? referring to the real Roxelana. The writer should explain more about the details of her question and support her ideology so that the readers would understand more.­­­­

The author stated that "Magneficient Century", is the most popular tv series in Turkish history. She emphasize that the tv series focusses more on the life of harem and family oriented. Eventhough the tv series is a huge success, there's still a critic who's named Erdogan.
